And that is what has happened with capitalism, like many things, the structure looks decent on paper in the wrong hands it has failed our economy...so much that we the consumers have learned from it's failure and have turned it into a consumer driven market,a conscious consumer environment.
My great friend, best-selling author & global speaker, Patricia Aburdene (Ab Twitter: http://twitter.com/paburdene) actually wrote a book about it Megatrends 2010: The Rise of Conscious Capitalism. There is a wave of success in the air. I will be tweeting and interviewing Patricia along with 11 other power women including Janet Attwood and Marcie Dyer at this year's Women Power & Purpose Conference March 13th-14th in San Diego, California (http://womenpowerandpurpose.com/early/) Maybe you can make it!

"More than 50% of [scientists'] findings are unexpected. In some labs, the figured exceeded 75%."
"Experiments rarely tell us what we think they're going to tell us."
"The problem with science, then, isn’t that most experiments fail — it’s that most failures are ignored."
"There are advantages to thinking on the margin. When we look at a problem from the outside, we’re more likely to notice what doesn’t work."
These are a few quotes from an article by Johan Lehrer about learning from failure posted on Wired.com.
http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/12/fail_accept_defeat/all/1
The article exemplifies Maddock Douglas' "failing forward" mentality and puts the concept into perfect perspective by way of a researcher (Kevin Dunbar) who analyses how other scientist do research.
What's more, the context of the article makes it easy to point out some of MD's message points: think outside the jar and bring in outside experts to solve problems.
Enjoy the read and I encourage everyone to question their own problem solving practices. A closing quote from Bob Dylan sums it up "There’s no success quite like failure."
Enjoy,
