There is a job description I saw for Deloitte, where they have a custom built Yammer implementation which they use for collaboration and organisation of ideas - and provide a transparent progression.

But before we writoff the issue, lets put the list of requiremeents. what is the most important thing about idea ? Ideas are spontaneous and occur at odd times. IPOD recording would be fine IDEA. once all the bit n pieces of ideas are collected,collate them to arrive at meeaningful service/product. voice recording of ideas gives the spontanity advantage but needs deciphering it into textual context. this way no matter where we are, brain is ntwroked to the right tool to record the thought.

There is a need for an idea management solution..take it beyond that to think about visibility and connectivity to ideas! Clayton Christensen tells us from research that 93% of ideas in their original form aren't sound. That suggests the need for a platform/solution to allow people to connect to and have visibility to ideas so the ideas can be shaped and refined. Also, Raff and his team are absolutely accurate in noting that ideas must be driven by solving a customer need.....we can't do that well with a notebook. It is an option..there are better options.
